Thank You for All Those E-Mails and Letters…
Rumors have been flying that I may sneak into the Elk Grove Village city council meeting tonight…really? Would I do that, with this upcoming weekend being the Little Boots Rodeo , where I’ll be appearing both Saturday and Sunday? Could there be a reason that I might show up tonight? Hmmm… if anything, by chance, should happen, I’ll make sure to mention it in tomorrow’s blog- IF anything should happen, of course…
One of the fun things about our show being seen all over the country on the Me-TV network is the feedback we get from our viewers all around this great nation of ours (and even from Canada!) All sorts of messages come to us, including one from California and the “Me-TV Hollywood” viewership with some younger viewers wanting our t-shirts, but distressed that we don’t have kids sizes- and fearing they would be laughed at if they wear oversized adult shirts! (I’m working on it, kids…) I thought you might enjoy a sampling of some of our latest mail…
Rob from Santa Monica writes: “I’ve been a park ranger for 24 years but my dream was always to host the Saturday night movies. Thanks for keeping the kid in me alive.” You’re welcome, Ranger Rob! Though I think being a park ranger in a beautiful area might be preferable to being pelted with rubber chickens…
Gary had a funny comment regarding “The Mummy’s Hand” last Saturday- “is this the one where the Mummy can only get around using a walker?” Gary, I don’t think it’d help him get around any faster…
Lou wrote that he caught our show on Me-TV when he was in Wheeling, West Virginia for his son’s high school graduation, but is waiting for a local station in Baltimore to pick up Me-TV. He contacted his local DirecTV provider, who told him they’d let him know if Me-TV was being added. Well, Lou, you need a local STATION in your area to pick up Me-TV, and THEN have DirecTV add the channel. Go to www.metvnetwork.com , put in your zip code, and see if there’s already a station in your area- then, if not, call your favorite local stations, and ask them to pick up the Me-TV network, so you can see Svengoolie! (That same advice goes to any of you who want to see us in your area, but don’t have a station carrying us yet…)
Maybe Father’s Day had something to do with it, but I got several e-mails , like one from Taylor, that said Saturday night was always a family night to watch our show with dad- memories in the making- as well as reminiscences of watching my shows years ago with their Dad (and, in some cases, with Grandpa). I always like to hear that our show is a family destination every week, with everybody in the household watching the show together!
Wayne in Bellingham, Washington, had a comment about those “Mummy” movies- he and his wife think the high priests must have stored away a heck of a lot of those tanna leaves, since they are from a now extinct plant- with the leaves being used at a rate of three to nine at a time every full moon, and the Mummy supposedly being kept alive for -what,3,000 to 4,000 years- how many did they manage to preserve- not to mention- would they not rot or mold, in various climates like New England and Louisiana? Good point, Wayne- but, I guess if you’re going to believe a Mummy can be kept alive, you can believe that the supply of tanna leaves is endless and fresh as a Nile Delta daisy…

sven, you make some excellent points as well as the other viewers. i think the reason me tv does so well, is that it’s good clean fun. look at what we got on cable/tv/satellite anymore. that so-called reality tv? its trash tv. the dramas and comedies they make start falling short after the first season or in some cases, after the first episode. thank god, for me tv!! i told everybody at work about you and the other programs when channel 5.2 wlwt in cincinnati started carrying me tv. i really enjoy your show and the movies i grew up with. people like svengoolie because its family friendly and its fun! thank you and thanks to me tv!

I thought Saturday’s mummy movie would involve kharis searching for a new appendage in a second hand store. You see what I did there. Hey, don’t blame me for bad jokes as a fan of Svengoolie it’s par for the course.
I don’t mind sharing you with the rest of the country and Canada, but I’m sure proud to have you headquartered here in Chicago.

Sven, your show is the highlight of my week. Not sure what that says about my social life but what the heck. I was wondering, you have picked up so many new viewers on Me-TV who missed out on your years of great shows in Chicago. Ever given any thought to a double feature? One new show and one old one. The good thing about this is you don’t have to do any extra work-the old show is already in the can! Keep up the great work, digging you in Cow Hampshire.
I’m one of those viewers who just caught on to Svengoolie when we started getting Me-TV here in Phoenix, AZ.
The folks in Chicago are awfully lucky to have grown up watching your show. I look forward to it every weekend.

Sven/RIch: Mark’s idea sounds great! I know Me-TV would have to give you an expanded time slot for a double feature, but I, like many viewers outside of the windy city, would enjoy seeing your older, local Chicago shows, too. I know you’ve shown a couple of them, like the ones for “The Car” and “I Saw What You DId,” and we’ve seen snippets from some of the others as well. BTW, I’ve said it before, but I thought you looked great in that spiffy red turtleneck in those older shows, and that you should consider wearing it regularly again.
Every saturday night is reserved for family time…and that means Svengoolie fun at 9pm… we all gather, pop some corn and sit back and enjoy the show, grandma even cant wait for Svengoolie!
Ohhh and by the way…I orderd my new Svengollie Tshirt last night!
Cant wait for it!!!
